Is It Really Failure?

Is it really a failure if you don’t accomplish something you set out to do?

My friend and co-host D. Scott Smith and I have differing opinions on this, but really come to the same conclusion in the end. It is what you do after you fail that really matters.

What is your perspective when you stumble and fall?

I love what Michael Jordan says,

"I've missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. Twenty-six times I've been trusted to take the game-winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed."

You must realize that Life is a Journey. It is in continual motion.

As long as you don’t let circumstances stop you from moving forward, life is really Amazing!!

Winston Churchill said,

“Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.”

Sports are such a great example.

In Baseball a great athlete still fails to hit the ball more than 60% of the time. But, that means he is successful 35-40% of the time.

It’s all your perspective.

One of the most successful coaches in college basketball, John Wooden teaches about the importance of being flexible and adapting along the way. We have to be open to new ideas and change when needed. John says,

"Failure isn't fatal, but failure to change might be"

How do you respond to failure?

Remember, You are not a failure, but the verb form of this word is the result of things in our life. We fail to achieve our goals at times, but it's how you bounce back that matters.

I love this quote by Zig Ziglar,

“It’s not how far you fall, but how high you bounce that counts.”

We need to bounce back and keep at it.

It is like a story I tell about learning to ski. My friend's father was teaching me and said I had to fall to learn. I told him I didn’t want to fall, but he assured me that it was necessary to learn.

If you choose to, you learn from your mistakes and failures.

Failure is not an option. Failure is necessary...We try. We fail. We learn. We adjust. - Craig Groeschel

You have to take a chance and realize you will not always succeed. But you can get up and keep moving forward.

Fear stops so many, but you don’t have to let that be you!

Get out of the boat. Face your fears. Fail. Learn. Adjust. Try again. And watch God do more than you can imagine.- Craig Groeschel

You can be an extraordinary person and achieve amazing things if you put your mind to it.

Choose to be above average and Don’t Give Up!

The difference between average people and achieving people is their perception and response to failure.” - John C. Maxwell

Choose a Positive Perspective!

Choose to keep on moving forward!

Don’t Give Up!

Let me end with this quote by John C. Maxwell,

“Failing forward is the ability to get back up after you've been knocked down, learn from your mistake, and move forward in a better direction.”
